2026 MiMTSS Conference

Some students with extensive support needs (ESN) may have elevated behavioral support needs that necessitate individualized behavior support plans. In this session, information about building and implementing individualized, communication-based supports to address these behavioral support needs will be shared with a particular focus on function-based thinking.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify the role of function-based thinking in designing individualized behavior intervention plans for students with ESN.
  • Identify communication-based supports to include in individualized behavior intervention plans for students with ESN.
