Thursday November 19, 2026 10:15am - 11:30am EST
In the science of reading era, strong whole-group Tier 1 instruction must inform small-group practice. This session explores "teacher table" necessities that prioritize phonemic awareness, decoding, and encoding. These small-group activities are designed for easy implementation alongside any SOR-based curriculum. Join Jake in exploring a sample planning process that prioritizes well-paced warm-ups, memory anchors, and connected text.

Learning Objectives:
  • Identify where small groups fit into the larger literacy landscape
  • Explore the necessary sections of a structured literacy small group
  • Contrast sample student needs and will determine priorities within the suggested small group planning format.
